HISTORY

1.25 (27.04.1999)

--------------------- NEW: New default server is acs.hostile.cx The message requesters now uses MUI instead of Gadtools. This means that all AmiComSys's windows now have a similar layout. Those of you who like the GadTools variant, that have been of use in AmiComSys since version 1.12 and there fore is well tested, don't need to worry. You can switch between the two variants by changing the option "Use MUI requester" on the Windows-page-Message Requester-tab in the general settings. SendFile will now ask if it shall overwrite an existing file or resume transmission. Suggested by Frederik Thiesen. The SendFile now has two CPS-counters(kbytes/sec.). Added Sound settings page. AmiComSys will now play sounds on several occasions. Relayouted the main window. The toolbars are inside scrollers, that disappear when they are not needed. The message text field is in a popup window, which will open if you click the 'New' button. The HideIP feature is now available for anyone, both registered and unregistered users. I changed this to prevent people to find ip-addresses, to flood, with AmiComSys. This feature is enabled by default. To turn it off go to the network settings page. Implemented Multi-Select in ClientList (so now it's possible to send normal messages to a multiple number of clients). Reworked Message History. Now the text is saved in the directory PROGDIR:mhistory and pages is loaded dynamicly. The result is much faster startup and exit of AmiComSys, offline, and closing of MH Window. Thanks to David Hamilton for notifying me about the slow Message History. The images were modified, so please reinstall them. The installer will do it automatically for you. The client list is cleared when the program goes offline. The hotkey now only iconify the main window if it is in activated state. The window will appear at the front if it's not already activated. Just press the hot key again, while the window is activated to iconify it. Added "Send Now!" to the requester that appear if the time interval between message sending to the same user hasn't exceeded yet. Removed 'Load as' menuitem from Message History. The PChat chat lines are now also inserted to the Message History. You may turn this off and on in the Windows-settings-Chat/PChat-tab. When the two toolbar parts are merged into one they will be inserted in the upper part of the group (if moved to the lower GUI area). Changed the toolbar texts to smaller strings, to make the buttons smaller. Added the "Super Ignore List"-button on the network-security-page in the settings. Messages over 500 character do no longer show up in the Message History in full. You need to double click the text to get the full. It seems like NList break messages after a new line character in the Message History. For now, double click it to show all. No need to set the Daylight Savings Time flag anymore in the settings. It's now automatically updated according to the current time. Added a list with addresses to AmiComSys servers in the network settings. Removed beep on new message setting in Message Requester settings. Changed 'chat' in the message type cycle button to 'IRC', which should be more appropriate. Added menu item "View/Toolbars". It hides or shows the toolbar(s). Updated the Rexx/SendEmail.amicomsys script. AmiComSys now supports the following mailers: YAM 1.3.x, YAM2, AirMailPro v.3.2+, Eucalyptus, Iris and MicroDot2. 'Snapshotable requesters' added to the Windows->Message requesters settings page. Normally AmiComSys would decide the size and position of the message requesters. But if you aren't satisfied with message requester sizes that AmiComSys decides maybe you should check this one. Then you are able to snapshot the windows like any other MUI-window. BUGFIXES: Freed memory that were not allocated or NULL pointer while adding a user to the Ignore List. When the entire application was iconified and then opened with the commodities Exchange Show-command, the window opened, but the icon did not disappear from the Workbench. The refreshing trouble, caused by a MUI-bug with MUIA_ShowMe,FALSE, which exists only in simple refresh windows have now been worked around. In the AmiComSys FAQ you were told to switch to smart refresh and redraw with clear, when you had problems with overwritten window borders at the right and bottom of the main window and the PChat window. You could now switch them back to 'Simple refresh' and 'redraw without clear' without any trouble. The window spacing will now directly get its user preferred default size after a change in the MUI-prefs. This is the four areas of the main window that show a rubber band if you drag a toolbar or another part of the GUI on them. If you drag & drop a GUI-object into one of these areas that object will move to the new position. SendFile SavePath in the misc-settings was not saved. It was not possible to turn off "send confirmation" for the return key in the message requester. (This should only be possible for registered users.) Thanks to Frederik Thiesen for reporting this bug! The events requesters, "User connected" and "User disconnected" showed host name 'Privacy' even though the user was not hiding his or her host name. Removed garbage characters from the message inserted to the compose window, when you press the email button in a Message Center message requester. Pagoo message checking is now working again.

1.21 - 1.24

Internal beta versions.

1.20a (05.09.1998)

BUGFIX: Because of uninitialized memory the Events in the Friendsbook could automatically be activated when AmiComSys read in an old .friendsbook file created by AmiComSys version 1.19g. The only solution for the one which have used the 1.20 version is to go to the Friendsbook and the Events tab, and disactive "On Connect" and "On Disconnect" if you don't want to be notified when your friends connects or disconnects. Bug reported by Harry Samwel. Thanks! AmiComSys have problems to open on a screen width lower hight that 512 pixels. I recomend that people that have a screen of 640x256(200) to choose the NewIcons-style (20 colours) graphics set in the installation. Then go to the MUI-prefs, choose Toolbar, and then decrease most of the settings. For example Group Spcace is 20 by default, 5 is probably better. You could also choose a smaller font, or show the images without text below it. I have also implemented a little fix in this bugfix release that will place all buttons in one 8 button toolbar when the window refuse to open, because it doesn't fit. Users with a screen size lower than 640x512 have to set the ToolType LOWRESOLUTION in the AmiComSys to make AmiComSys always open up with the 8-button tooltype. If you don't set this your MUI-settings will be scrambled everytime AmiComSys is started :( It will also take significantly longer time to open up the window. I hope that I can provide you with a graphics set with smaller images in the future. Reported by Fredrik Zetterlund. Thanks! The whole application was deinconified when you granted access for a PChat Session.

1.20 (30.08.1998)

NEW: Added image-buttons. Drag & drop on the whole GUI in the main window. The GUI positions can be saved. The toolbars, message group and status group may be moved to another position than default! The support for pre 1.19c versions of AmiComSys were removed. You may now Drag & Drop clients from the Client List to the Friends Book. You may now Drag & Drop clients from the Client List to the Ignore List. Clients are now inserted alpabetically sorted into the Friendsbook and Ignore List. Also added a menu item. Entries->Sort. Now uses OpenURL.library if installed, to send https://-URLs to your browser. Added restart to the settings menu. The program is now also automatically restarted when a configartion change require a restart. New configuration file format. Should be faster to read in. Old configuration file "AmiComSys.config" is automatically converted to the new format and saved to "AmiComSys.prefs". Person-oriented message history implemented. The picture that may show up in PChat is now inserted to the right. You set it back to former position, i.e below, in the Windows settings, Chat tab-PChat, Put Picture cycle. Enhanced the iconification settings. Now there will be no problem if you set one the iconification settings in the MUI-prefs. It's completely ignored by AmiComSys. New settings are: Hotkey for main window open/close and another hotkey for open/close the entire application, i.e. all windows at once. The CX_POPUP Tooltype you may set in the icon will override the Main Window Hotkey. The hotkeys now by default switch between iconified and uniconified state, just like MUI's default hotkey does. The iconify item in the MUI-menu, which may appear in the window frame, may now be used without any problems. So is the Iconify Application menu item in the project menu. AmiComSys may now open windows even though the whole application is iconified, which was the reason to replace MUI's default iconification mechanism with my own one, which also support iconification of single windows! (Just press the MUI-iconify button, which may appear in the window frame.) In addition to this it's also possible to set the position of the application and Main Window icon. New keyfiles and protection. Upgrades will be available. There are a couple of context menus here and there now (Client list, toolbars, other GUI-components, and in the Person-list in the Message History). The number of connected clients now show up in the help bubble you get by move the mouse pointer to the Client List and wait a while. Added Events to the Friendsbook. You may now get a notification when your friends connect or disconnect. Note: This is pretty experimental in this version. The System info on Version 1.20 users does look a little better now. It is now possible to switch off the send confirmation for sending via the Return-key (you press the Return-key in the message field to send the message). Go to the Windows-message requester tab- settings to change this. Only possible for registered users. You may press the email button in the Client Info to open up YAM. BUGFIX: Clients added to Friendslist, were not directly highlighted in the client list, if there email was not set to public. This only applies if you have set ClientList to highlight your friends. The ClientList was not updated after a removal or manual addition to the friendsbook. It will now be refreshed when you close the Friends- book window. May take a while if the net is lagging. If someone that you had added to the Ignore List was selected in the client list you were unable to send a multi-message. The Pagoo Check is working again.

1.19g (25.07.1998)

From 1.19f the PagooID was sent to the server, which makes it show up in your client info, even though you had set it not do that :( Reported by Jonas Davidsson. Thanks! If one pressed the New button in the Friendsbook, and then directly closed the window, there will be an empty entry, with just the text New entry in the name field. This is still the case, but now no Enforcer hits are thrown when the list is saved to disc. But why would anybody wanting to do that?

1.19f (22.07.1998)

BUGFIX: Couldn't connect to people that had hidden their IP-address, via PChat and SendFile :( When you changed the hide-ip option from ON to OFF the clients didn't notice it. You had to reconnect to make the server notice that you don't want to hide your IP-address anymore. Reported by Frederik Thiesen. Thanks! Didn't get any message when the receipient of a SendFile request denied access. Didn't output any error message when something went wrong while starting AmiComSys. Probably crashed instead. Shouldn't put screen to front while you are using the keyboard. NEW: Moved the host-column in the client list to the right of the comments. Created two mailing-lists. Read Contact author in guide for more info.

1.19e (19.07.1998)

BUGFIX: Corrupted memory list detected in free mem-GURUs could be shown, meaning there was a LibFreePooled() with the wrong size in the source code. Some buttons in the AmiComSysMUI.guide (rules and ignore-list) were not working. Garbage could be shown in the info-box in the upper part of main window, the first time you were using AmiComSys. (especially under kick 2.0) Topic changed-notes should not be inserted into the HotLine when the user hasn't joined the HotLine.

1.19d (16.07.1998)

BUGFIX: If AmiComSys made your system instable from version 1.19 I hope it's fixed now. I found one possible cause, but can't be sure if that was the real cause ... That problem could easily be fixed by removing the .friendsbook file, though. The rexx/notifyrexx.amicomsys script got wrong information from version 1.19, causing for example ACS-Notify showing wrong information. Reported by the author of ACS-Notify, Scott Beardwood. Thanks! TAB should not insert ">>>" and "" in a ChatWindow (HotLine and PChat). Fixed some other bugs in the TAB-completion-mechanism. Hope it fixes the crashes some users have encountered. Now also works with Textinput.mcc again ... Fixed some bugs in the ':'-completion of a Chat-Window. Does no longer insert a space after ':' when you have never addressed a chat line to anybody. The HotLine's TAB-expansion and ':'-last nick inserter was very incompatible to Textinput.mcc, because Textinput.mcc obviously has dropped support for further string.mui tags :( It also returns strange values when string.mui-tags are used, which probably caused AmiComSys to crash for some users. The messages in HotLine was not properly removed from the history you can cycle through with the cursor up and down keys. Sometimes when you entered the HotLine you could see the chat lines you have entered coming back to you. I haven't been able to reproduce this, but I suspect that it happened when you had the HotLine open while connecting to the server. There was a race-condition then. Bug reported by Frederik Thiesen and Alex Tucker. Thanks! Fixed some security features, which I can't tell you about. Fixed some layout errors in the Settings window. Removed the CPS from the SendFile windows. The old copy of the client data on the server was not removed immediately when the same client connected again, but this time with another IP-address. Happen when your host crashed and you have to call up your Internet provider again. NEW: Only users who have joined the HotLine will be possible to get with TAB-completion. Managed to tweak the CPU-usage while in sleeping state back to 0.0%, and reduced the CPU-usage while the program is used, by stop using MUI's timer. Added a window with the current rules of AmiComSys. Window menu-The Rules. When someone modifies the Topic in Hotline a message is inserted into the list. The SendEmail.amicomsys script was updated. It now works with both YAM 1.3.x and YAM2.0p5. The text is now also inserted into the mail editor. It's no longer possible to send messages to clients you have on your ignore-list. Added "Super-Ignore". You can ignore clients in the ClientList, HotLine and messaging by adding an entry to The AmiComSys Ignore List found in the Settings menu ->"Ignore users". By activating all options you may remove a certain client entirely from AmiComSys. Only registered users may ignore client messaging via the Ignore-List in the Ignore-list-window, but the less efficient one in the Network-settings still works. When Message ignore is activated the ignored client can't even get your Version-info or System-Info!

1.19c (23.06.1998)

NEW: Changed the internal addressing scheme to make AmiComSys more efficient on the server side and by the same time added support for several users connecting from the same fire wall. This could lead to incompatibility problems with older versions of AmiComSys. So please update your copy of AmiComSys now! BUGFIX: Memory leakage in Pagoo-checking The information line in the upper part of the main window wasn't updating anymore. It should now be possible to send normally long URLs, beginning with https://, with WEB-messages. An Enforcer hit was thrown when the "Send" gadget was pressed in the Message Requesters. Bug in the word length counter which forced you to use words with a length less than 50 characters. Now 65 i maximum length.

1.19b (17.06.1998)

BUGFIX: HotList online/offline status was not updated after a reconnect. Reported by Rolf Bollmann. Thanks! NEW: Updated Pagoo-check to the current standard. (to make it work again ...) 1.8 (08.04.1997) ---------------- First Official release on Aminet.
